Safety Sensitive Positions. The job functions associated with these positions directly and immediately relate to public health and safety, the protection of life, and law enforcement. Safety Sensitive positions are those: - Law Enforcement personnel who carry firearms - Have custodial responsibility for illegal drugs - Perform emergency medical, lifesaving, peace keeping and/or fire suppression activities - Handle hazardous materials that if mishandled, place City employees and/or the general public at risk of serious injury - Work in irrigation and wastewater systems and their operations - Be required to maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Operate heavy machinery This policy is designed to prevent alcohol and prohibited drug use and to encourage employees who need to seek help.

Safety Sensitive Positions. Positions in the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇. ▇▇▇▇▇▇ Forensic Unit and the Cafaldi Unit of Twin Valley Psychiatric Hospital are considered to be safety sensitive positions. Employees that are eligible to be assigned to work in these positions shall be subject to random testing as described above. c. Each employee in a safety-sensitive position at the time this policy is adopted shall be provided with notice of the status of his/her position. Such notice will indicate that the employee will be subject to a program of random testing.
d. Each employee who is transferred into a safety-sensitive position will be provided with notice of the status of his/her position. Such notice will indicate that the employee will be subject to a program of random testing.
e. Each employee hired into a safety-sensitive position will be advised of such designation prior to appointment. He/she will be notified that he/she is subject to random testing.
