Rights of Citizenship. Notwithstanding their employment, employees shall be entitled to full rights of citizenship, and no religious or political activities of any employee or the lack thereof shall be grounds for any discipline or discrimination with respect to the employment of such employee. Generally, the private and personal life and lawful activities of the employee are not within the appropriate concern or attention of the Board, unless they impact on the operation of the District. In the event any employee(s) files a grievance alleging discrimination under this provision of the Agreement, the Board may, at its discretion, refuse to process the grievance or void any arbitration award or settlement of the grievance, should the employee(s), or anyone on their behalf, pursue a lawsuit or administrative proceeding in any forum, relating to or arising out of the basic facts.

The private and personal life of any teacher is not within the appropriate concern or attention of the Board.
Rights of Citizenship. An employee’s exercise of the rights of citizenship outside of the employee’s responsibilities and duties shall not be grounds for disciplinary action against the employee. This does not limit the right of the Board to make reasonable rules regarding employee conduct.

The Teacher shall be entitled to full rights of citizenship and no religious or political activities of any Teacher or lack thereof shall be grounds for any discipline with respect to the employment of such Teacher, provided that such activities do not impede the educational process or performance of professional responsibilities.

MBUs will be entitled to full rights of citizenship, and no religious or political activities of any MBU, or lack thereof, will be grounds for any discipline or discrimination with respect to the employment of such MBU, providing that said activities are not in violation of laws and do not interfere with professional duties, occur on District time or utilize District resources.
Rights of Citizenship. The employee shall be guaranteed the right to be active politically. Political rights shall include registration and voting, participating in party organization, discussing political issues publicly, campaigning for candidates, contributing to campaigns of candidates, lobbying, organizing political action groups, and running for and serving in public offices which are compatible with his/her current employment. The employee shall not use contractual time, privileges, or district facilities to promote political candidates or to further partisan or non-partisan political activities.
