Common use of Rest Rule Clause in Contracts

Rest Rule. An Employee extended for mandatory overtime resulting in four (4) hours or more of any overtime worked and that causes the Employee to work a fifteen (15) hours day or more(inclusive of unpaid gaps between shift and assignment)in a work day, will have their next day’s shift assignment adjusted as follows: • The next day’s adjustment will be equal to the mandatory assignment, but not to exceed ten (10) hours total rest in any event; • The rest is limited to the next shift or voluntary overtime assignment established prior to notice of the mandatory overtime assignment • The Employee will be paid at his regular straight time rate for the time lost because of the rest; and • Employees cannot be required to work mandatory overtime during the rest period. will be given rest equal to that mandatory assignment. The rest will be equal to the mandatory overtime assignment, but will not exceed 10 hours rest in any event. The rest only applies to the next day’s shift assignment which had been established prior to the mandatory overtime assignment.
