Common use of Resident Nurse Clause in Contracts

Resident Nurse. A registered nurse whose clinical experience after graduation is less than nine months; or a registered nurse who is returning to practice, with no current clinical experience or training. A resident nurse shall work under the close supervision of more experienced nurses with the assistance of the Clinical Manager or designee as needed until such time as the nurse proves capable of handling the full-time responsibilities of a general duty staff nurse; however, residency shall not exceed six (6) continuous months unless extended in writing for an additional three (3) months when mutually agreed to by the Employer and the individual nurse involved. A resident nurse will be evaluated by his or her supervisor not less than every three months, after written consultation with staff nurses with whom the resident nurse has worked most closely.
