Required Stay Clause Samples

The Required Stay clause establishes the minimum period that a party, typically a guest or tenant, must remain at a property or within a contractual arrangement. In practice, this clause might specify that a guest cannot check out before a certain number of nights have passed, or that a tenant must occupy a rental for a set duration before being eligible to terminate the agreement. Its core function is to provide certainty and stability for the property owner or service provider by preventing early departures, which could disrupt scheduling or financial planning.

Required Stay. (1) After an assignment change is posted on the Daily Bulletin, a member who receives an assignment to a unit other than one listed in (2) below, is required to stay in that unit for a minimum of fifty-six (56) days, unless the Chief of Police authorizes a shorter period of time. (2) A member who receives any plainclothes assignment, or assignment to the Community Liaison Unit, School Resource Unit, Mounted Unit, or Motorcycle Unit, is required to stay in that unit for a minimum of one hundred and twelve (112) days after the assignment change is posted on the Daily Bulletin, unless the Chief of Police authorizes a shorter period of time. For covert assignments, which do not appear on the Daily Bulletin, the one hundred twelve (112) day minimum will start on the effective date of the assignment.
