Requests for Personal. Necessity Leave shall be made at least three (3) days in advance or earlier to facilitate coverage for the position during the requested leave. In the event such advance notice is impossible under 12.5.1.1 and 12.5.1.2 above, requests for leave shall be made by the employee to his/her immediate supervisor as early as possible but at least prior to the beginning of the work shift in which the absence is requested. Supervisors may waive this requirement in cases of extreme emergency.

Requests for Personal. Paid Absence will be granted as per the employee’s request at a minimum of two (2) employees per shift. Requests for Personal Paid Absence in excess of two (2) per shift and/or requests submitted with less than the required notices period as set out herein will be granted by the Company subject to production requirements. As an alternative to the above, in the event of illness, an employee may use their PPH days. An employee must notify the employer when calling in sick if they intend to use a PPH day for pay purposes. A PPH used as a sick day will not count as an ESA emergency leave day. It is the expressed intention of the parties that the Personal Paid Absence allowance as set out herein is intended to be taken by employees as paid time off. The Employer agrees to exercise their rights herein in the scheduling of Paid Absence Allowance in a fair and reasonable manner.
