REDACT. 4.5 Due to staff relocation between buildings, the Appointed Provider will also be asked to install 3 additional network ports in the METS building.. The Authority envisions this would be achieved by the installation of an 8 port LAN switch and cables. As stage one we would recommend improving the switches currently in place in the cabinets. We would endeavour to make all switches HP full gigabit (10/100/1000mbps). We recommend replacing the main switch with a HP 2530-48G Full Gigabit switch, this would be used as the networks core switch as the internal switching speed provides a much better connection and should be used for the main server. The switch in the data cabinet in the office should be replaced with a HP ProCurve 1810-24G and we will install an HP ProCurve 8-port 1810G gigabit switch required for additional network ports for OIP personnel (GPTME). HP ProCurve switches come with a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the product. This speaks to the quality and reliability of the product NASA’s International Space Station Columbus uses the HP ProCurve 2524 switch due to it being the only switch able to meet demands in “outer space.” “To put it simply, ProCurve was the only networking vendor whose switches offered us the level of reliability and performance required to handle the intense demands on board Columbus.” We would recommend keeping the current Netgear XxX switch for use with the Security cameras as this Switch is adequate enough to reuse for this solution.
