Common use of RECOGNITION AND MEMBERSHIP Clause in Contracts

RECOGNITION AND MEMBERSHIP. That the Employer hereby recognizes the Union who is signatory hereto as the sole and exclusive collective bargain- ing representative of all the employees of the employer over whom the Union has jurisdiction as defined in Section 9(a) of the National Labor Relations Act, as amended. As a condition of employment, all employees covered by this agreement shall, on or before the eighth (8th) day, after the day of execution of this agreement, become members of the Union and remain members in good standing in the Union during the terms of this Agreement. When new employees are hired, membership in the Union, on or after (8) days employment, shall be a condition of con- tinued employment provided the employer has no reasonable grounds for believing:
