Reciprocal. (Mutual Aid) Fire Protection: As deemed appropriate, the Agencies may, by agreement in OPs, establish reciprocal initial attack zones for lands of intermingled or adjoining protection responsibility. Within such zones, a Supporting Agency will, upon request or voluntarily, take initial attack action in support of the Protecting Agency. The Protecting Agency will not be required to reimburse the Supporting Agency for costs incurred following the initial dispatch of any ground resources to the fire for the duration of the mutual aid period, unless specifically stated by contract or agreement. The length of the mutual aid period should not exceed 24 hours, unless specifically stated by agreement or contract, and will be documented in the OP.
