Recent Related Experience. Where an RPN is hired and has recent related RPN experience in a long term care or hospital setting, she may apply for recognition of that experience on the wage grid, up to the maximum of the grid. Such experience, when approved, will be granted on the basis of one year’s movement on the grid for each one years’ experience. Where the experience is part time one year equals 1,800 hours worked.

Recent Related Experience. A claim for recent related clinical experience, if any shall be made, in writing, by the nurse at the time of hiring on the application for employment form or otherwise. The nurse shall co-operate with the Home by providing verification of previous experience so that her/his recent related clinical experience may be determined and evaluated during her or his probationary period. Having established the recent clinical experience, the Home will credit a new nurse with one (1) annual service increment for each year of experience up to a maximum of the salary grid. If a period of more than two (2) years has elapsed since the nurse has occupied a full-time or part-time nursing position, then the number or increments to be paid, if any, shall be at the discretion of the Employer. The Home may also give effect to part-time nursing experience in special circumstances. Currently employed nurses who were eligible for claim credit under the formula of one (1) increment for every two (2) years of experience may make claim under the present provision and will have their position on the salary grid adjusted effective upon ratification to a maximum of the salary grid.

For greater clarification and by way of example, a nurse with three thousand five hundred (3,500) hours of related experience shall be placed at year two (2) and shall proceed to step three (3) on the anniversary date of hire.

Recent Related Experience. A registered employee with recent and related experience may claim consideration for such experience at the time of hire. Verification of previous related experience is required. Such experience will be evaluated by the Nurse Manager or designate, during the probationary period. The Centre may also give effect to Part-Time nursing experience in special circumstances.
Recent Related Experience. Upon ratification, where an employee is hired or applies for a job posting and has recent related experience, they may apply with the documentation proof satisfactory to the Employer, for recognition of that experience on the wage grid, up to Year 2 of the grid. Such experience, when approved, will be granted on the basis of one year’s movement on the grid for each one year’s experience up to Year 2 on the grid. Where the experience is part time, one (1) year equals eighteen hundred (1800) hours paid. Current employees would be eligible, retroactivity pay would not apply.
