Purposes and Principles Clause Samples

The "Purposes and Principles" clause defines the overarching objectives and guiding values that underpin the agreement or policy. It typically outlines the fundamental aims, such as promoting cooperation, ensuring fairness, or supporting compliance with relevant laws, and may specify the ethical or operational standards expected of the parties involved. By clearly stating these foundational intentions, the clause provides a framework for interpreting the rest of the document and helps prevent misunderstandings about the agreement’s direction and priorities.
Purposes and Principles. National Trails serve communities best when they integrate recreational, environmental, cultural, economic, and transportation objectives, so that National Trails showcase the rich diversity of America’s natural and cultural heritage and retain significance for all Americans and international visitors. This MOU promotes these objectives by facilitating, encouraging, and assisting long-term interagency cooperation at the national, trail-wide, regional, State, and local levels in implementing the NTSA. In particular, this MOU supports the interagency coordination and collaboration necessary to implement the NTSA; identifies the roles and responsibilities of the agencies to support administration and management of National Trails; reaffirms the responsibility of the agencies to work together in administering and managing the NTS and NTS components as seamlessly as possible at all organizational levels across multiple jurisdictions for public benefit; and supports agency cooperation with NTS partners in support of National Trails.
Purposes and Principles. A major goal of the Act is to have State Workforce Systems pursue strategies that would positively impact employment levels by satisfying certain needs of unemployed workers and employers. To that end the Act makes funds available to states engaging in programs that have been shown capable of supporting the goal. Funds are also made available to evaluate the various strategies to help determine their effectiveness and to understand their impact on workers, employers, and the labor market. Consistent with transparency and accountability principles, reporting and monitoring of activities and associated funding are essential and grantees are expected to support these activities through compliance with all related requirements.

To cooperate on establishing large-scale ASEAN Industrial Projects, particularly to meet regional requirements for essential products; and 2. In the event modifications are found necessary in the subsequent sets in the light of experience gained under the first five ASEAN Industrial Projects, such modifications shall be effected in accordance with Chapter XVI of this Agreement. ARTICLE 2 The Contracting States, in pursuance of the purposes stated in Article 1, shall act in accordance with the following principles: 1. Each Contracting State shall have at least one ASEAN Industrial Project in its country. 2. Upon the allocation of an ASEAN Industrial Project to an ASEAN member country, similar new national projects can only be established after consultation with member countries and also on condition that the basis for the ASEAN Industrial Project is not affected by the proposed new national projects. However, similar national projects which have already been firmly planned and are already in their early stage of implementation before the allocation of the ASEAN Industrial Projects shall be allowed to proceed as national projects. Such projects shall be specified with particulars in the relevant Supplementary Agreement attached hereto. 3. In the allocation of the subsequent sets of ASEAN Industrial Projects, the benefits derived from the preceding ASEAN Industrial Projects shall be taken into account with a view to equalizing benefits in the long term.
