It is not meant to be an exhaustive list nor will every Program Director necessarily be responsible for all such listed duties: Administering one or more specific academic programs Preparing program-specific accreditation and certification reports Conducting an academic program of study Representing the program in any necessary meetings within the University or external to the University Assessing program performance, progress, and outcomes Conducting periodic reviews of the program, including five year reviews of academic programs as may be required by the University Preparing program specific goals and objectives to be included in department annual reports Working with the department chair on teaching schedules, including assignments of part time faculty and adjunct faculty; Maintaining and modifying program manuals and materials Preparing changes to the course catalogs each academic year Arranging for external mentors, reviewing external quality standards, interacting with various stakeholders Working with department faculty on program specific accreditation and certification and preparing program specific accreditation and certification reports Conducting marketing efforts to maintain enrollment, promotion of the program and recruitment of new students (done in conjunction with other administrative and academic departments) Other duties as recommended by the Department Chair or assigned by the D\u2587\u2587\u2587 and as stated in the appointment letter Program Directors may be required to work during the summer as well as during the normal academic year as a condition of their appointment and this will be taken into account in setting their salary. Program Directors may be appointed for terms of one or two years at the discretion of the D\u2587\u2587\u2587 and after considering the recommendation of the Department Chairperson. The University retains the right to create or eliminate Program Director positions in any School or College at its sole discretion. Further, the University retains the right not to reappoint Program Directors to subsequent terms either because, in its judgment, there is no longer a need for the position or because of individual performance considerations. The non-reappointment of a Program Director will not affect his or her status as a full time faculty member. Program Directors will be paid as follows:\na. Due to the variation in Program Director duties, and variations in the length of appointment, the compensation for such work will vary. However, effective with Academic Year 2013-14, the University agrees that the minimum payment for such work will be the three-credit overload rate (fall/spring rate) and a three-credit reduction in teaching load. Program Directors shall have full voting rights in all Program Committee meetings.\ng. Program Directors shall be appointed according to the following conditions:\ni. Except with the agreement of the Parties, only tenured full-time faculty members, normally at the rank of Associate Professor or above, are eligible for appointment as Program Director.\nii. Normally, only faculty members who have taught or are teaching in the program are eligible for appointment as Program Director.\niii. The appointment process will follow the selection procedures established by the Program Committee. The selection and appointment procedures will be annually reviewed, revised as necessary, and approved by the Program Committee, the appropriate Department(s) or Centre(s), and/or the appropriate \u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587(s). Only full-time faculty members of the Program Committee, including limited term and instructional limited term may vote on the appointment of the Program Director.\niv. In programs where, as of July 1, 2014, the responsibilities of the Associate \u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587 include being a Program Director, this practice shall continue for the duration of this agreement.\nv. The recommendation of the Program Committee shall be forwarded to the \u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587 who may consult further.\nvi. The \u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587 shall forward the Program Committee\u2019s recommendation and their recommendation to the \u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587 and Vice-President, Academic.\nvii. The Program Director shall be appointed by the \u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587 and Vice- President, Academic.\nviii. Normally, the term of office shall be for three years and may be renewed once.\nix. Procedures for removal from office shall parallel the procedures in Article 27.04 (Duties of Department Chairs and Centre Directors).\nh. Program Directors shall receive the following workload adjustments:\ni. Program Directors shall have their workload redistributed so that the teaching component is reduced by a minimum of one (1) half-course during each year that they act as Director.\nii. In addition, Program Directors, and/or their Program Committees on their behalf, may request additional teaching reductions for a particular year in which they serve as Director in order to address an administrative workload for the Director that is anticipated to be significantly higher than the Faculty\u2019s or Faculties\u2019 norm(s).\niii. Requests for additional teaching reduction will be assessed and approval determined by the appropriate \u2587\u2587\u2587\u2587(s) based on a combination of the following factors, with relative weighting as appropriate: the number of administrative staff appointed to the program; the number of courses offered; the number of students registered in the program; the relative complexity of scheduling for which the Director is responsible (e.g. external placement of students); and emergent issues directly related to University business that may arise from time to time (e.g. undergraduate or graduate program appraisals, external accreditation processes).
