Professional Staff. 1. Employees shall be granted ten (10) paid days annually for absences due to personal illness. If not used, the ten (10) days or any portion thereof may be accumulated without limit as long as the employee is employed by the Board. 2. When an employee is absent from work, under this or any other Article contained herein, the employee must notify AESOP prior to the first day of absence. 3. Employees shall have accessibility to their accumulated number of sick days through KRONOS Employee Self-Service. 4. Employees who are absent for more than five (5) consecutive days must submit a physician's certificate stating the reasons for the absence. 5. Employees whose absences are suspicious, excessive, or constitute a pattern shall be warned. Such employees may be required to provide a doctor's certificate for subsequent absences after due warning. 6. Should an employee cease to be employed by the Board during the year, the employee shall be credited with one (1) day of sick leave for every nineteen (19) days, or major fraction thereof, of employment that year.
