Professional Growth Activities. The content of the substance of Professional Growth programs and the manner in which Professional Growth is delivered shall be inclusive of those particular domains and activities defined in pages 12-17 of the Professional Growth Manual. The appropriate Professional Growth forms and the manual are available in the Human Resources Department at the District Office. Unit members must consult the Human Resources Department for information on Professional Growth and changes from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Professional Growth Activities. Classroom teachers may make requests to participate in professional growth activities. An application “mini grant” will be made to the PAR panel with the proposed scope of work, the defined goals, and a plan that supports sustainable professional growth (i.e. CTSP and curriculum standards) including peer collaboration. The District shall reimburse the Superintendent for reasonable actual expenses incurred in attending such activities in accordance with the adopted budget and the Board’s polices regarding expense reimbursements, per paragraph 7.3.4.

Professional Growth Activities. The Superintendent shall devote the Superintendent’s time, attention, and energy to the direction, administration, and supervision of the District. The Board, however, encourages the continued professional growth of the Superintendent through the Superintendent’s active attendance at and participation in appropriate professional meetings at the local, regional, state and national levels. The Board shall encourage the use of data and information sources, and shall encourage the participation of the Superintendent in pertinent education seminars and courses offered by public or private institutions or by educational associations, as well as the participation in informational meetings with those individuals whose particular skills, expertise, or backgrounds would serve to improve the capacity of the Superintendent to perform the Superintendent’s professional responsibilities for the District. In its encouragement of the Superintendent to grow professionally, the Board shall permit a reasonable amount of release time for the Superintendent as the Superintendent and the Board deem appropriate, to attend such seminars, courses or meetings. The District shall pay the Superintendent’s membership dues to Associations deemed appropriate by the Board and necessary to maintain and improve the Superintendent’s professional skills. The District shall bear the reasonable cost and expense for registration, travel, meals, lodging, and other related expenses for such attendance and membership and subject to advanced notice to the Board. The Board encourages the Superintendent to become a member of and participate in community and civic affairs and educational organizations that serve a legitimate purpose related to the educational mission of the District. The responsibilities of these activities should not interfere with the performance of his duties as Superintendent. Prior to engaging in these activities, the Superintendent will notify the Board in writing of the activity. The Board will notify the Superintendent if the activity presents a conflict or interferes with the performance of his duties as Superintendent. The District shall reimburse the Superintendent for cost related to travel outside of the District upon approval by the Board.
