PRODUCTION NOTICE. This is the best way to promote a production to potential auditionees; it is the responsibility of the Director to ensure this is ready in good time for distribution. As much information as possible should be included, including character breakdowns*, audition and performance dates and contact details. Exemplar notices are provided in Annex 9. The Auditions Secretary and Theatre Manager will need to advise whether preferred audition dates are available. * When writing an audition notice the Director will need to decide if a character ought to be a specific ethnicity, gender or race to facilitate the storyline. Historically casting breakdowns have only been specific when a non-white actor is required. This is not the current industry standard and as the Company aims to work to that where possible, when writing character breakdowns all specifics required need to be included. Character descriptions therefore should always state age, gender, and ethnicity. If a character is open to any of the above groups then “all” should be stated.
