PROBATIONARY PERIOD EXTENSION Clause Samples

The Probationary Period Extension clause allows an employer to extend the initial probationary period of a new employee beyond its original duration. This extension may be invoked if the employer determines that additional time is needed to assess the employee’s suitability for the role, often due to insufficient performance data or unforeseen circumstances during the initial period. By providing a formal mechanism for extending probation, this clause ensures that both parties have a clear understanding of expectations and timelines, reducing the risk of premature employment decisions and supporting fair evaluation.
