Premium Payment - Overtime Clause Samples

The 'Premium Payment - Overtime' clause establishes the requirement for additional compensation to employees who work beyond their standard scheduled hours. Typically, this clause specifies the rate at which overtime is paid—such as time-and-a-half or double time—and outlines the conditions under which overtime pay is triggered, for example, after 40 hours in a workweek or on designated holidays. Its core function is to ensure fair compensation for extra work and to comply with labor laws, thereby protecting both employer and employee interests regarding overtime work.
Premium Payment - Overtime. I-1 When full shifts, on a Unit, that incur overtime payment are offered, they will be offered within that Unit, by seniority first to full-time nurses on a rotating basis, then to regular part-time nurses on a rotating basis and then to casual part-time nurses on a rotating basis. However, the Hospital is not required to offer an opportunity to work overtime hours over the same period that a nurse has previously rejected an opportunity to work or if weekend premium is triggered. I-2 (Full-time and Regular Part-Time) Entitlement for all nurses to lieu time as provided for in Article 14.09 shall be scheduled at a mutually acceptable time but in any event shall be taken within the fiscal year unless mutually agreed otherwise. Nurses may accumulate to a maximum of sixty (60) hours in their bank at any time.
