Pre-Transplant Evaluation. Benefits for pre-transplant evaluations include testing performed to determine donor compatibility, pre-operative testing, medical examination of the donor in preparation for harvesting the organ or tissue, and organ bank registry fees. Costs associated with registration, evaluation, or duplicate services at more than one transplantation institution are not covered. If the Member assumes financial responsibility for obtaining and maintaining a duplicate organ listing at an additional facility and the organ becomes available at that location, the transplantation may be eligible for coverage. The cost of screening is covered up to the cost of the identification of one viable donor candidate. Additional community or global screenings for a donor are not covered.
