Political. Leave shall be granted upon request to any employee upon becoming a candidate, or during the course of such candidacy, for any elected public office. Leave shall also be granted upon election to any elected public office.
Political. A leave of absence shall be granted to any bargaining unit member to campaign for or serve in, a public office. This leave shall be granted for not less than one (1) semester.

Upon return from such leave, the teacher shall be placed at the same position on the salary schedule as if the teacher had taught in the school system during such period.

A leave of absence may be granted for employees who have been elected to a state political office with the district continuing to pay any medical benefits during the leave that were received prior to the employee requesting the leave. No further compensation will be paid during the political leave period.
