Personal Leave. The local Superintendent has the authority to grant to any employee up to three (3) days of personal leave during each school year. Notice of intent for such leave shall be submitted in writing to the Superintendent at least two (2) days before the period of absence is to begin, except in emergency situations. Upon approval by the Superintendent, the applicant will not suffer any loss of salary for such absence and such days shall not be deducted from the employee's accumulated days of sick leave. Such absences cannot be used for a purpose which would be chargeable to sick leave unless the teacher has exhausted sick leave. Specific events or circumstances (emergencies) beyond the control of the employee for which leave may be granted without prior written request are "acts of God" such as severe weather or an unexpected home calamity. Personal Leave. Personal Five (5) personal leave not to exceed three days a year shall be granted each teacherpermissible as follows:

Personal Leave. Personal leave not to exceed three days a year [a] Effective July 1 each year, educators shall be granted each teachercredited two (2) days of personal leave to be used for their personal business (unless noted otherwise on the salary schedule for the position). Teachers hired after Educators earn this time as they work through the start year. Educators who terminate or resign employment shall be required to repay the value of personal leave used but not yet earned. Educators with fifteen (15) or more years of experience, as determined by the school year shall salary schedule, will be entitled to one (1) additional day. Any educator with an all track contract at a pro-rated number of days. Teachers working less than full-time year- round school will be pro-rated for entitled to one (1) additional day of personal days to the nearest half- dayleave each year. Personal leave may also be earned when educators within a school fill in for absent teachers when the automated sub-finder system is not successful in filling an absence, or when prior principal approval is obtained (this will apply to educators in secondary schools who substitute during their prep period or educators in year-round elementary schools who substitute when they are off track). Personal leave accumulation, use and carry-over are based on a single position, not a combination of positions. Personal Leave. Personal leave not to exceed three days a year All certified employees shall be granted each teachera total of three (3) days per year for personal leave at no substitute deduct. Personal Leave. All personnel, except intermittent employees, are eligible for a maximum of three (3) school calendar days with pay for personal leave per contract year. Personal Leave. Personal leave A. The Board shall, pursuant to the provisions of this policy, provide for an employee’s absence for personal necessity when not to exceed three days a year shall be granted each teacher. Teachers hired after otherwise covered by the start terms of the school negotiated agreement.
B. Up to four (4) full days of personal leave may be used, if approved by the building principal, each contract year by full time employees. Regular part time employees shall be entitled to personal leave in proportion to the time actually worked. One personal day may carry over to the next school year with a promaximum of 4 personal days per school year.
C. Unpaid personal leave may be granted at the discretion of the superintendent based on the availability of a substitute, costs, and the needs of the education program and must be pre-rated number approved. Dock days shall be limited to three (3) days in any calendar school year unless approved by the Superintendent.
D. When all personal leave has been exhausted and you did not roll over a fourth personal day, if a valid reason for personal leave exists one day extended personal leave may be granted at the discretion of daysthe superintendent.

Personal Leave. Personal The Superintendent is authorized to grant teachers leave not with pay in keeping with the following provisions:

Personal Leave. a. Four days (30 hours) of non-accumulative leave with no deduction in salary, however, prior approval must be received from the Superintendent. Except in emergency situations, no more than two district staff members in the same building will be permitted to leave on the same day.
b. All personal hours/days may be used at the discretion of the certified employee with no reason stated on the leave form except “Personal leave not leave.”

All employee leave applications shall be acted upon and respective parties notified within a period of time not be performed at any other timeto exceed seventy-two hours, excluding holidays, from the time received by the building administrator. The minimum unit of leave shall be no less than one hour and will only be granted upon the availability of an appropriate substitute teacher.
i. Upon completion of the school year, any unused leave shall be added to the individual teacher’s accumulative sick leave, provided the total accumulation of sick leave does not exceed the equivalent of 120 days, or paid at the rate of $40 for each full day. The employee may exercise the option of carrying over one discretionary personal leave for personnel on day to the teacher’s salary schedule shall following contract year to not exceed five days. Personal Leave. 1. One day of leave with pay may be used for personal leave. Requests for utilization of a personal leave day shall be made electronically through the school district to the immediate supervisor, no later than three (3) days prior to the requested leave, except in cases of extreme emergency. It is further provided, however, that fewer than seven (7) days' notice may be given when an employee demonstrates, by evidence satisfactory to the Superintendent (or his designee), that an emergency prevented the giving of seven (7) days' notice and that the notice actually given was as far in advance of the date of the intended absence as permitted by the emergency.
c. The Superintendent (or his designee) shall have discretion to grant only those requests for which adequate substitutes may be obtained.
d. One of the two (2) available days may be used with no substitute teacher cost deduction from the employee. Leave used beyond the one day will be subject to deduction for substitute teacher costs.
e. Leave hereunder may be used in increments of ½ day.
f. Leave shall not be allowed during any form of work stoppage.
g. If the employee does not use any personal leave in the current year, one day will be added to the employee’s personal leave days for the next year to a school vacation period maximum accumulation of three (3) days. The employee will not be approved, except under very unusual circumstances. Personal Leave. An employee will receive two (2) days of personal leave per year to attend to personal matters which cannot be dealt with outside of the workday. This leave will not be deducted from sick leave and may not be used for Association business, to extend holidays/vacation, or during the first three (3) weeks and last three (3) of the student school year for bus drivers, bus assistants and child nutrition employees. All requests for personal leave except as provided below, must be received by the immediate supervisor at least ten (10) work days in advance of the requested leave date. If a response to the leave request is not received by the requested leave date, it will be considered approved. No more than three (3) percent of the workforce from a building or department may be on personal leave at a given time. This process is not grievable. Untimely requests will normally be denied unless subsequently approved as an “exception”. All personal leave requests must be approved or denied in writing by Human Resources not less than three (3) work days prior to the requested leave date. If a written response is not received three (3) workdays prior to the effective leave date, the leave shall be considered granted. Exceptions may be allowed at the recommendation of the supervisor in special non-emergency situations. All requests will be sent to human resources for final determination. This leave will be taken in half or full day increments only. Recognizing that personnel in the transportation department have unique shifts due to runs/assignments, bus drivers and bus assistants will be allowed to utilize personal leave in hourly increments. Personal leave requests submitted as Emergency Leave pursuant to the conditions set forth in Section 9.1 Emergency Leave (A) – (E) will be exempt from the ten (10) work day prior notice requirement. 3. An employee who does not wish to carry forward one (1) day of personal leave and wishes to cash out their personal leave balance, maximum two (2) days, must request in writing to the payroll department, using the payroll cash-out form, by June 30th for payout in the August pay cycle.
4. Teachers working less than full-At no time will an employee be propermitted to utilize three (3) consecutive personal leave days.
5. A new employee who works as a regular employee from February 1 through the end of his/her 2 scheduled work year, or who works as a regular employee more than one hundred twenty-rated five (125) 3 scheduled work days from September 1 through August 31, is eligible for a personal days leave day for the 4 current work year. No more than three (3) percent of the workforce from a building or department may be on personal leave at a given time. This process is not grievable.

Personal Leave. Personal a) It is recognized by all that absences by regular employees from their work assignments causes disruption of the normal work process and must therefore be held to a minimum. In each contract year an employee will be eligible for two (2) days of personal leave with pay, starting the first day that said employee reports for work during the contract year. After completing ten (10) years of service, all employees will be eligible for three (3) days of personal leave with pay. Such leave shall be for personal, legal, business, religious, household, or family matters which requires the absence of the employee during normal work hours and which cannot otherwise be scheduled outside of the regular work day of the employee. In no instance shall personal leave be used for the purpose of extending a holiday or vacation. A personal leave day may also be used for an unscheduled school closing due to exceed three days a inclement weather. It is understood that the prohibitions and weddings, and graduations and weddings of members of the immediate family or household or personal business that cannot be performed at any other time. Personal leave is intended to cover emergency or other business that cannot be performed at any other time. The accumulation conditions of personal leave use do not apply in instances of personal leave day requests for personnel religious purposes. Leave without pay may be granted by the building administrator. Unless circumstances warrant, leave without pay should not be requested immediately prior to or immediately following a holiday or vacation. A bargaining unit member granted a leave without pay shall have his/her pay reduced at a per diem rate based on the teacher’s salary schedule shall not exceed five daysnumber of days paid in the current contract year. Whenever feasible, such requests shall be made at least one week prior to the date requested beginning of school, the first week of school or the last week of school as indicated on the employee’s assigned calendar(s). The Director of Human Resources may make exceptions for such leaveonce-in-a-lifetime events (i.e. son/daughter’s wedding, graduation, etc.) or in the case of emergency.
ii) Personal Leave for licensed employees working on a non-traditional extended school-year calendar may not be granted during critical time periods as designated on their work calendar. Personal Leave. Each Employee shall be entitled to three (3) days of unrestricted personal leave. Unrestricted means no reason is necessary. The Superintendent/Designee may limit use of personal leave to 6% of the staff for any one day. Prior written application (at least 3 days) shall be required. Personal Leave taken in case of emergency (i.e., circumstances which require an employee’s immediate attention and which were not known and could not have been known about at least 24 hours in advance) shall not be subject to the above limitations. Personal leave shall not be available in the first week or last two weeks of the school year, except in cases of emergency or with prior approval at least three (3) full school days prior to exceed three the day of requested personal leave. Personal Leave. Personal Five (5) personal leave not to exceed three days a year shall be granted each teacherpermissible as follows:
a. Teaching personnel will be permitted to be absent from school responsibilities for any purpose without pay. The personal business that cannot leave day when used shall be performed at any other timededucted from the PSLA account of the employee. Personal Leave. Accrual
(a) Personal leave not to exceed consisting of three days a year or more, other than for emergencies, illness, etc., shall be granted each teacher. Teachers hired after the start of the school year shall be entitled to requested as provided for in this Section and as far in advance as possible; provided, however, that a pro-rated number of days. Teachers working request made less than full-time will (14) fourteen days before the scheduled leave may be pro-rated for personal days disapproved by the Department Head due to the nearest half- dayworkload consideration. Personal leave may be used for such occasions as religious holidays, personal graduations and weddings, and graduations and weddings consisting of members of the immediate family or household or personal business that cannot be performed at any other time. Personal leave is intended to cover emergency or other business that cannot be performed at any other time. The accumulation of personal leave for personnel on the teacher’s salary schedule shall not exceed five days. Accumulations in excess of five days, as of the first day of any school year shall be converted to sick leave and added to the member’s sick leave accumulation. Personal leave shall be requested in writing or verbally to the Human Resources Department because of the necessity of obtaining substitutes. Whenever feasible, such requests shall less than three days must be made at least one week (7) seven days prior to the date requested for such leavetime off. (b) Advanced, scheduled leave must be taken in hourly minimum increments and must be approved two weeks in advance to be considered a scheduled absence;
(c) Unscheduled use of personal leave (emergencies, illness, etc.) will be charged according to the actual hours/days away from work in hourly increments. Leave taken under this provision must, upon request from the Department Head, be supported by a written statement which may be included on the Personal Leave Request Form.
(d) In the event of an emergency, illness, etc. where leave cannot be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance, notification of leave must be provided prior to scheduled shift time.
(e) Up to seven (7) occurrences per year can be charged to Personal Leave Time without advance notice for personal leaveor family illness, unforeseen personal needs, etc. Unscheduled Personal leave time is not to be used for ordinary vacation purposes. An unscheduled absence of more than ½ the employee’s scheduled work day will be counted as one occurrence. Bargaining unit employees agree that unscheduled personal leave time will only be used when it is impossible to give the advance notice normally required for the use of scheduled personal leave time. Employees shall notify management of an absence prior to the start of any scheduled work period. No doctor’s certificate or any other proof of illness will be required under this Section. The Department will advise the employee in writing on the seventh occurrence of unscheduled personal leave time during the previous twelve months. Personal Leave. Personal leave Leave is granted to allow an employee to meet personal obligations that may not to exceed three days a year be taken care of at times other than when school is in session.
A. Each bargaining unit member shall be granted each teacherauthorized three (3) paid days of Personal Leave absence per full-school year. Teachers hired If an employee starts work for the District after the end of the first quarter, but before the end of the first semester, the employee will be entitled to two (2) paid days of Personal Leave for that first year. If an employee starts work for the District after the end of the first semester, but before the end of the third quarter, the employee will be entitled to one (1) paid day of Personal Leave for that first year. If a bargaining unit member begins work for the District after the start of the school year shall fourth quarter, the employee will not be entitled to a pro-rated number Personal Leave for that first year.
B. The following regulations govern the use of these days:
1. Teachers working less than full-time will be pro-rated The employee must record his/her request for personal / use of Personal Leave through the District’s automated online absence management system (e.g., Aesop) at least seven (7) calendar days to in advance of the nearest half- dayabsence, except in cases of emergency. In cases of emergency, the employee must record his/her request for / use of Personal Leave through the online system as soon as possible.
2. E. Employees shall apply for Personal Leave through the District’s automated online absence management system (e.g., Aesop). From May 1 to the end of the school year, employees may only take Personal leave Leave for the following reasons:
1. Accidents or catastrophes involving family property.
2. Court appearance as litigant or witness.
3. Observance of religious holidays where complete absence from work is required.
4. Attendance at high school or college graduation exercises honoring the employee or member of the employee’s immediate family, or to pick up the employee’s child(ren) at college or other academic institutions. Immediate family shall be requested defined for purposes of this Section as: one’s spouse or children; or any person living full-time in writing or verbally to the Human Resources Department because domicile of the necessity employee and dependent on the employee or the employee’s spouse.
5. Attendance at a conference or convention as an officer or delegate of obtaining substitutesan organization not directly related to public schools, but including among its purposes a concern for the civic, social, ethnic, cultural, or economic improvement of the community, or attending a conference, convention, or exposition attended by students for whom the employee is a teacher/advisor.
6. Whenever feasibleTo visit members of the immediate family in the Armed Forces.
7. Wedding of employee or of a member of the employee’s immediate family, or employee’s participation as a member of a wedding party.
8. Wedding trips of the employee.
9. Attendance at a funeral of persons not within the immediate family.
10. Professional consultation when such requests shall appointment cannot be made at least one week prior times other than the regular school day. Medical, dental, and optical appointments are to be used under sick leave provisions.

Personal Leave. Personal leave is designed to replace, sick and vacation leave previously granted by the City to bargaining unit employees. (c) Unscheduled use of personal leave (emergencies, illness, etc.) will be charged according to the actual hours/days away from work in hourly increments. Leave taken under this provision must, upon request from the Department Head, be supported by a written statement which may be included on the Personal Leave Request Form.
(d) In the event of an emergency, illness, etc. where leave cannot be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance, notification of leave must be provided prior to scheduled shift time.
(e) Up to seven (7) occurrences per year can be charged to Personal Leave Time without advance notice for personal leaveor family illness, unforeseen personal needs, etc. Unscheduled Personal leave time is not to be used for ordinary vacation purposes. An unscheduled absence of more than ½ the employee’s scheduled work day will be counted as one occurrence. Bargaining unit employees agree that unscheduled personal leave time will only be used when it is impossible to give the advance notice normally required for the use of scheduled personal leave time. Employees shall notify management of an absence prior to the start of any scheduled work period. No doctor’s certificate or any other proof of illness will be required under this Section. The Department will advise the employee in writing on the seventh occurrence of unscheduled personal leave time during the previous twelve months. On the eighth occurrence of use of unscheduled personal leave time during the previous twelve months, the employee shall enter will receive a written warning. If an employee has properly scheduled personal leave time but, due to circumstances beyond the employee’s control, the time the employee’s scheduled time off is changed because the appointment/schedule/etc. was changed by a third party, the revised time off will be approvedconsidered “scheduled personal leave time” under this Section, except under very unusual circumstances. If an employee has reported to work late or must leave early without required notice, the 1/3 occurrence point will occur if they do not describe nor reveal complete at least half of their schedule shift. For example, employee’s shift is from 7:30 to 4:00. If they leave prior to 11:30, it would be considered an occurrence.
4. The unscheduled late arrival or early departure from the nature of such business, but need only state, in making the request, work day during an employee’s regularly assigned shift that the leave is necessary to attend to personal business which cannot occurs three times would be performed at any other time. Personal Leave. Personal a) It is recognized by all that absences by regular employees from their work assignments causes disruption of the normal work process and must therefore be held to a minimum. In each contract year an employee will be eligible for two (2) days of personal leave with pay, starting the first day that said employee reports for work during the contract year. After completing ten (10) years of service, all employees will be eligible for three (3) days of personal leave with pay. Such leave shall be for personal, legal, business, religious, household, or family matters which requires the absence of the employee during normal work hours and which cannot otherwise be scheduled outside of the regular work day of the employee. In no instance shall personal leave be used for the purpose of extending a holiday or vacation. A personal leave day may also be used for an unscheduled school closing due to exceed three days a inclement weather. An employee using personal leave due to inclement weather must notify the Director of School Nutrition on the next workday. It is understood that approval of any unusual request not specifically listed above under the reasons for personal leave shall be at the sole discretion of the Superintendent of Schools or their designee.
b) Employees hired after the first day of any given school year shall be granted each teacherhave their personal leave allowance computed in its entirety on a pro-rated basis at one-fifth (.2) days per month through June of the school year in question. Personal Leave. Each bargaining unit member will be allowed three (3) days of unrestricted leave during the school year effective on their first scheduled workday (not to be accumulated) without loss of salary to conduct personal matters. These days will be prorated based upon when the employee was hired during the school year. Three (3) days if hired before the school year starts until the end of October; two (2) days if hired November 1st through February 1st; one (1) day if hired February 2nd through May 1st; and zero (0) if hired after May 1st. Personal leave shall not be used to exceed three days a year extend holidays, recesses, (defined as any break in workdays including the beginning and end of each school year), or any period of excused absence. An employee must apply for all personal leave day(s) by completing the appropriate entry in the District’s electronic leave system and submitting it to his/her immediate supervisor or designee for approval as far in advance of the expected absence as possible. Notice must be received at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance of the day(s) to be taken except in the case of an emergency in which case the 48-hour requirement may be waived. Personal leave may not be requested through the system prior to July 1 for the forthcoming school year. The immediate supervisor or designee shall consider approval or denial of the leave request prior to the time of the leave. In the event of an emergency which precludes the employee from contacting the immediate supervisor or designee, retroactive leave may or may not be granted each teachergranted. Teachers hired after No more than two (2) individuals in any classification may be absent on any one day for personal leave. No personal leave will be allowed during the start first two weeks of the school year or during the final two weeks of the school year. Bargaining unit members will be paid fifty percent (50%) of their daily rate of pay for each personal day not used. The payment for these days will be received on the second pay in July. The accumulation, use, and deduction of personal leave shall be entitled converted from days to hours according to a pro-rated prorated formula which takes into account the number of days. Teachers working less than full-time will be pro-rated for personal days to the nearest half- dayhours worked in each assignment.
