Common use of Personal Business Clause in Contracts

Personal Business. A leave of absence may be granted to conclude essential legal actions or to obtain broadening professional experience, and must be supported by such evidence as the District may designate. The term "broadening professional experience" means experience gained through employment, study, or research which is not obtainable in a manner which might otherwise qualify a faculty member for study leave as set forth in Section 8.1.A.(2) and which, in the judgment of the Governing Board, will increase the faculty member's competence in relation to his/her present or anticipated assignment within the District.
