Penalties and Allowances Clause Samples

The 'Penalties and Allowances' clause defines the rules for imposing penalties or granting allowances in response to specific actions or failures under the contract. Typically, this clause outlines circumstances where a party may be penalized for non-performance, delays, or breaches, as well as situations where allowances—such as extensions of time or additional compensation—may be granted due to unforeseen events or compliance with certain requirements. Its core practical function is to incentivize proper performance and provide a structured approach to handling deviations from contractual obligations, thereby managing risk and ensuring fairness between the parties.
