Parenthood Leave. 1. A teacher with a continuing appointment and a minimum of two years service with the Board with a dependent child/children shall be granted upon request a parenthood leave of absence without pay for a stated period of time up to a maximum of twenty (20) school months. The minimum two years service may be waived by mutual agreement. 2. A teacher requesting such leave will give a minimum of three teaching months notice for the commencement of the leave. This notice may be waived by mutual agreement. 3. Parenthood leave shall also be granted in the case of adoption or legal guardianship. 4. The teacher may elect to continue benefits per Article B.17.6. 5. The provision of Article G.16 shall apply. (Use of sick leave) . 6. The return to duty shall be as per the provisions of Article E. 7. A teacher on parenthood leave will continue to accumulate seniority as outlined in Article C.2.
