Out of Town Allowances. The Employer shall arrange, assign and pay for out of town living accommodations that meet a suitable and reasonable standard. Double occupancy at an economy motel normally meets the standard. In addition, the Employer shall pay each employee a food allowance for each day that the employee is scheduled to work at a project that requires overnight accommodation. The daily allowance is paid for each scheduled workday for the employee at the out of town work site. The daily food allowance is $51.00.

The daily food allowance is $40.00. Effective January 1, 2020, this increases to $42.50 and January 1, 2021, this increases to $45.00.
Out of Town Allowances. (a) In regard to out-of-town allowances, it is understood that if the Employer requires an employee to be out-of-town overnight, the Employer will provide suitable room and board for the employee up to a maximum of eighty dollars ($80.00) per day or a maximum of four hundred dollars ($400.00) per week. If the employee is more than one hundred and sixty (160) kilometres out of Toronto then such room and board allowance shall be payable to a maximum of seven (7) days per week;
Out of Town Allowances. All travel provisions listed in Article 13.01 shall apply for Out of Town work. Out of Town work is defined as more than sixty (60) miles from the Employer’s Shop. The Employer shall arrange, assign and pay for out of town living accommodations that meet a suitable and reasonable standard. Single occupancy at an economy hotel or a multi-bedroom house with private rooms normally meets the standard. In addition, the Employer shall pay each employee a forty dollar ($40.00) food allowance for each day that the employee is scheduled to work at a project that requires overnight accommodation. The allowance is paid for each day worked by the employee and for each day that work was scheduled but not performed due to circumstances outside the employee’s control, but excluding days not worked due to the illness or absence of the employee. The Employer shall cover the cost of any household items required for out of town accommodations. If accommodations are not available and the employee is required to travel to the worksite each day, travel time will be paid in accordance with Article 13.01.

Distance and time are to be measured using Google Maps as the shortest distance by paved road and excludes toll roads unless Employer is paying the cost of the toll.
Out of Town Allowances. When a jobsite is located more than one hundred and forty kilometres (140km) from the employee’s principal residence, the Employer shall arrange, assign and pay for out of town living accommodations that meet a suitable and reasonable standard. Double occupancy at an economy motel normally meets the standard. In addition, the Employer shall reimburse the cost of food for each employee up to fifty dollars ($50.00) for each day that the employee is scheduled to work at a project that requires overnight accommodation, according to the Employer’s Food Per Diem Policy - June 1, 2019. The allowance is paid for each day worked by the employee and for each day that work was scheduled but not performed due to circumstances outside the employee’s control, but excluding days not worked due to the illness or absence of the employee. It is understood that when an employee is sent out of town by his Employer, the Employer will maintain the rate of wages, hours of work and fringe benefits provided for in this Agreement includingand without limitingthe generality of the foregoingwelfare, pension, vacation and statutory holiday pay and training as provided herein.
