ORIENTATION AND. It is agreed that an orientation and inservice program will be provided to all employees; this program shall be reviewed and updated from time to time. A newly employed employee shall not be assigned to clients until she has been fully oriented as set out in the Orientation Manuals, as follows: Orientation Program Specific Orientation The orientation checklist will be completed by the employee and supervisor during the orientation period. A copy of the orientation checklist will be placed in the employee's file.

A request by such a nurse for orientation shall not be unreasonably denied. Both the Hospital and the Association recognize their joint responsibility and commitment to provide, and to participate in, in-service education. The Association supports the principle of its members' responsibility for their own professional development and the Hospital will endeavour to provide programs related to the requirements of the Hospital. Available programs will be publicized, and the Hospital will endeavour to provide nurseswith opportunities to attend such programs during their regularly scheduled working hours. When a nurse is on duty and authorized to attend any in-service program within the Hospital and during her or his regularly scheduled working hours the nurse shall suffer no loss of regular pay. When a nurse is required by the Hospital to attend courses outside of her or his regularly scheduled working hours, the nurse shall be paid for all time spent in attendance on such courses at her or his regular straight time hourly rate of pay. Part-time nurses will be credited with seniority and service for all such hours paid as provided above while in attendance at such courses.

The following minimums shall be observed in the of a newly-hired employee: She is to be familiarized with the physical aspects of the building, the applicable policies and procedures of the Employer, and the daily routine of employees in the Home. The period of shall be for a minimum of three (3) days or such greater period that the deems necessary. She shall be additional employee to the usual staffing pattern. The employee or employees involved in the orientation/ familiarization will confirm that it has been completed, and this will be noted on the newly-hired employee's personnel file, which will be reviewed with such employee, and the employee shall also be able to comment. Both the Employer and the Union recognize the joint responsibility and commitment to provide, and participate in, in-service education. The Union supports the principle of its members' responsibility for their own professional development and the Employer will endeavour to provide programmes related to the requirements of the Home. Available programmes will be publicized. When an employee is required by the Employer to prepare for in service or to attend meetings, in service and other work related functions outside her regularly scheduled working hours, and the employee does attend same, she shall be paid for all time spent on such attendance at her regular straight time hourly rate of pay or at the employee's option, she shall receive equivalent time off. The Employer may, at its discretion, provide orientation in other circumstances. When required by a certifying body to update an employee's qualifications, except where this matter is covered by another provision of the collective agreement, the Employer shall grant leave of absence without pay which shall include the time required to write any examinations. The Employer will endeavour where practical to schedule inservices at times which will facilitate the attendance of employees working outside the day shift.

  • Orientation and Training A transferring employee will be orientated separately to both or their new home in accordance with Article 20 the collective agreement of the designated employer.

  • Orientation The Employer shall provide planned and paid Orientation Programs of such content and duration as it deems appropriate taking into consideration the needs of the Employer and the Nurses involved. Such Nurses will not be considered part of core staffing during their Orientation Program nor will they be provided with primary assignments.

  • STAFF ORIENTATION 4101 The Employer shall provide an appropriate orientation program for nurses newly employed. The orientation program shall include such essential information as policies, nursing procedures, the location of supplies and equipment, fire, safety and disaster plans. Where necessary, orientation shall be provided for nurses moving to a new area of practice. 4102 The Employer shall provide a program of inservice education for nurses pertinent to patient care. 4103 The Employer shall provide, access to reference materials as is required in relation to maintaining current knowledge of general nursing care. APPENDIX "A" - SALARIES A1. Effective April 1, 2013 - Monthly salaries include a 2% general increase. - Hourly salary is calculated as (monthly salary x 12) ÷ annual hours.   • Orientation Program The Company will allow a designated representative of the Local or Bargaining Unit up to one (1) hour per calendar month for the purpose of conducting the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union New Members’ Orientation Program. Such meetings will be conducted during the probationary period of employees, and will be held on Company premises. Employees participating in Orientation Program meetings during their normally scheduled working hours will not suffer loss of pay at their regular rate. Orientation Program meetings will be scheduled by Management and a Management representative may attend as an observer.

  • New Hire Orientation The Union’s Business Representative or designee shall be given the opportunity to make a membership presentation at the employer’s regularly scheduled new employee orientation sessions.

  • Training and Orientation (a) No employee shall be required to work on any job or operate any piece of equipment until he/she has received proper training and instruction.

  • Employee Orientation Each and every person working for a contractor, including sub- contractors, will be given an orientation to familiarize them with the site safety program. Unless otherwise specified, each sub-contractor is responsible for the orientation of their workers.

  • Union Orientation During orientation of newly hired Nurses, the Employer will allow up to thirty (30) minutes for a representative of the Local Union to speak with the newly hired Nurses.

  • New Employee Orientation The Union will provide each agency personnel director with the names and addresses of up to two (2) authorized Union representatives per agency to receive notice of each formal orientation meeting held by the Department. The notice will be sent as soon as such meetings are scheduled (but not less than ten (10) days in advance) and will include date, time and location. Due to operational exigencies, agencies may schedule an orientation which will provide the Union with less than the requisite ten (10) days' notice; however the Union shall be notified as soon as possible after the scheduling of the orientation and the Union representative shall be released from duty. Agencies shall routinely schedule orientations in a manner that will allow for the ten (10) day advance notice to the Union. During the formal orientation, the Union will be permitted to give a twenty (20) minute presentation which may include an enrollment in supplemental Union benefits. The parties shall encourage employee attendance, although attendance shall not be mandatory if an employee objects to attending the presentation. In the event a formal orientation meeting is not held, or the Union is unable to attend the formal orientation because the designated Union representatives cannot be released under Article 4, the Employer shall allow the Union representative and the employee(s) to meet during duty hours at a mutually agreed upon time and location for twenty (20) minutes Employee participation in these meetings shall be encouraged although an employee shall not be required to attend such a meeting.

  • Education and Training The foundation of this Program is education and voluntary compliance. It is recognized that alcohol and chemical dependency may make voluntary cessation of use difficult, and one of the Program’s principal aims is to make voluntary steps toward ending substance abuse easily available. The outside contractor shall review and develop on-going educational and training information on the adverse consequences of substance abuse and the responsibility to avoid being under the influence of alcohol or chemicals at work. Certain training required by the DOT Regulations shall be the responsibility of the Substance Abuse Program.
