On-the-Job Training. The Employer or its designate shall be responsible for providing job training to employees filling vacant or new positions.
On-the-Job Training. (a) When, in the Employer's opinion, operational requirements both warrant and permit and when it is practical from a financial perspective to do so, the Employer shall endeavour to provide on-the-job training to employees during normal working hours. The purpose of this training shall be primarily to maximize flexibility when assigning day-to-day work within a functional work unit and/or department and, secondly, to provide enhanced opportunity for employees to advance as permanent vacancies occur.
On-the-Job Training. The Employer shall inaugurate and maintain a system of "on-the-job" training so that every employee shall have the opportunity to receive training and qualify for promotion or transfer in the event of a vacancy arising. Accordingly, employees shall be allowed regular opportunities to learn the work of higher or equal positions during the regular working hours by arranging to change positions for temporary periods without affecting the salary or pay of the employees concerned. Such opportunities for training shall be allocated according to the seniority provisions of this Agreement. The training period shall be mutually agreed upon by the Employer and trainee.

On-the-Job Training. At the written request of an employee and with the written agreement of their supervisor, arrangements may be made for on-the-job training conditional on no disruption of the performance of the duties of any positions affected. Length of service in the work unit will be one of the factors considered in scheduling the training. This may be on the employer's time or arrangements can be made to allow access to the facilities of the workplace on the employee's time.
On-the-Job Training. The parties recognize the desirability of staff development through on-the-job training. The University agrees to consult with the Union on training and development needs of staff members and the ability of the University to meet these needs during regular working periods without affecting the salary/hourly rate of the staff members concerned.
On-the-Job Training. In the event the Residence intends, through the introduction of technological changes and/or through expansion or renovation, to create new, or alter existing positions, or to fill vacancies requiring skills and/or qualifications that present employees may reasonably be able to acquire, the Residence agrees to meet with the Union for the purpose of giving them an opportunity to make representations with regard to planning ways and means to enable employees to qualify for such new and/or changed positions.
