In 2016, Harvard University achieved the goal of its first Climate Action Plan by reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 30% from a 2006 baseline, inclusive of campus growth. The University’s second Climate Action Plan builds on this progress and aims to use the campus to test promising new solutions that will move Harvard, and the world, away from fossil fuels. The plan outlines science- based goals to become Fossil Fuel-Free by 2050–starting with being Fossil Fuel-Neutral by 2026. Harvard also has a Sustainability Plan that serves as the University’s roadmap for building and operating a healthier, more sustainable campus community.
