Notice of Teaching Assignments. The parties agree that adequate notice of teaching assignments (here and below, meaning which courses they will teach, but not necessarily the scheduling of those courses at specific times) supports high quality instruction. Therefore, the University will make a good faith effort to inform Bargaining Unit Faculty Members of their teaching assignments at least two months before the beginning of any semester. Except under extraordinary circumstances, the University will inform Bargaining Unit Faculty Members of their teaching assignments at least four weeks before the beginning of any fall or spring semester (two weeks before the beginning of a summer term). Extraordinary circumstances include, but are not limited to, the death or illness or resignation of a faculty member which necessitates changes to teaching assignments in a department. When changes to teaching assignments are made in response to extraordinary circumstances after the aforementioned deadlines, the University will, in writing, promptly inform Members of any change(s) to their teaching assignments and the reason for the change(s).

In order to facilitate adequate planning, faculty members will be notified by their Xxxx as soon as possible of teaching assignments for the semester, but no later than August 1 for fall semester and December 15 for spring semester unless exceptional circumstances exist that prevent meeting those deadlines.

Teachers may request reassignment if they believe they are able to make a greater contribution to the School’s educational program in a different assignment. As such, decisions made by the Executive Director regarding teacher assignments shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.
Notice of Teaching Assignments. 15.1 Employees, other than newly appointed and substitute teachers, shall be notified in writing of their contract status for the following year, no later than the first working day after the First May School Board meeting. These Employees shall be notified in writing of specific assignments including subjects that they will be assigned, the grades and/or subjects that they will teach and special or unusual classes that they will have, no later than the first working day after the Second May School Board meeting. These assignments shall not be changed except as may be required as a result of unforeseen emergencies such as a resignation, retirement, failure of another Employee to appear for the beginning of the school year, the inability to find qualified candidates for open positions, or situations arising which could not be reasonably predicted five contracted days before the end of school. Any Employee whose specific assignment is changed shall be notified in writing within five days of such change or modification of assignment and the reasons thereof.
