Normal Work Day and Normal Work Week. Except for those employees referred to in Schedule “B” of this Agreement, the normal work day and the normal work week shall be:
Normal Work Day and Normal Work Week. A. The normal workday for employees scheduled at 40 hours per week shall be eight (8) hours per day, exclusive of the lunch period. Employees shall receive a fifteen-minute rest break prior to the lunch period and fifteen-minute rest break following the lunch period. Rest breaks will be scheduled with the supervisor so that they approximately divide half of the workday. The normal workweek shall be forty (40) hours exclusive of the lunch periods. The normal lunch period shall consist of thirty (30) minutes duration. If the employee is required to perform work during his/her scheduled lunch/rest breaks, he/she shall be allowed to adjust his/her break accordingly to allow for the time worked. Employees scheduled for less than 40 hours per week will receive (1) fifteen minute rest break for every 3 hours of work time. These breaks will be scheduled with the supervisor so they approximately divide the workday. Employees scheduled for less than 3 hours per day will not receive a rest break. (1 to 3 hours = no rest break, >3 to 6 hours = 1 fifteen minute break, >6 to 8 hours = 2 fifteen minute breaks) An unpaid meal break may be scheduled with the supervisor on a case-by-case basis for those employees working less than 40 hours per week. Nothing contained herein shall limit the right of the District to offer or schedule part-time work or position assignments to less than the normal workday and workweek provided for in this section. Whenever reductions in scheduled hours of work are to occur, or part-time positions offered, the following shall apply:
1. Any employee whose position assignment is reduced below the normal work day of eight (8) hours shall be deemed to have suffered an elimination of position assignment for purpose of bumping under Article 5, Section 5.
2. If the District establishes more than one position of less than eight (8) hours duration, employees may bid in accordance with seniority on more than one such part-time position; provided that the total hours of such part-time positions do not exceed the normal work day of eight (8) hours, and further provided that the starting and ending time of such part-time positions do not conflict. Nothing contained herein shall limit the right of the District to establish an alternative work week rather than the normal Monday through Friday.
