Non-Nursing Duties. The parties recognize that RNs are highly educated professionals whose chief responsibility is patient care. The employer recognizes the importance of minimizing performing non-nursing duties and that the duties normally performed by clerical, housekeeping, transport or maintenance employees be performed by those employees and not RNs.
Non-Nursing Duties. It is the intent of the Hospital to not regularly utilize registered nurses for duties that interfere with effective delivery of patient care.
Non-Nursing Duties. 10-01 It is recognized that the primary duty and responsibility of the nurse is to provide medically related services and that the organization of the school and the school day should be directed at insuring that the energy of the nurse is utilized primarily toward this end.
Non-Nursing Duties. The Committee and the Association acknowledge that a nurse’s primary responsibility is to nurse and that his/her energies should, to the extent possible, be utilized to this end. Therefore, they agree as follows:

The employer recognizes the importance of minimizing performing non-nursing duties. Except in cases of emergency, where failure to do so immediately jeopardizes and interferes with patient care, the Registered Nurses covered by this agreement shall not be required to, on a routine basis, perform the following non-nursing service functions: -Going to the pharmacy to pick up medication (except narcotics) -Going to dietary to pick up trays -Washing empty patient beds, stretchers, and patient cabinets -Maintaining unit equipment -Washing stretchers, tables and equipment in the Operating Room -Washing empty beds when a patient is transferred -Mopping floors -Transporting patients to and from other departments except when medically necessary -Emptying garbage
Non-Nursing Duties. The Hospital agrees that duties normally performed by departments including, but not limited to, clerical, housekeeping, transport, dietary or maintenance shall be performed by those departments and not registered nurses. The Hospital will regularly meet with HPAE representatives through Labor-Management meetings to attempt to establish practicable solutions which can be implemented to enable RNs to devote more time to patient care. Registered Nurses will be required to perform on an emergency basis any duties that provide a safe environment for the residents and patients.
Non-Nursing Duties. (Not applicable to employees in the Flight Nurse classification). It is recognized that in certain life threatening situations, no absolute restrictions can be placed on nurses' duties in a patient care environment. However, the parties agree that the following duties are not ordinarily intended to be a normal part of a registered nurse's activities:
