In Section 5.1.1, the use of noninvariant measurement was argued for, principally so that the applicability of invariants could be assessed before implementation. This was done through observing the clustering of object classes and the separation between these. For this task, noninvariants have been very useful in helping to assessing the prospective effectiveness of invariant methods, ultimately encouraging their creation. It is important to note that noninvariants were only used here as a preliminary stage. After noninvariants were used and examined, these methods were always upgraded to some sort of invariant. Noninvariants, by their very nature, are unstable and prone to inaccuracy.
