Methodology for Collaboration with External Entities. The following table describes the interactions with external entities and the methodology that will be applied. Table 7 - Interactions with External Entities External Entity Description Production Grid Infrastructures Description: The European Grid Infrastructure will be the primary production grid infrastructure targeted by the StratusLab collaboration, although it will remain open with other grid infrastructures. Methodology: The project will make three releases of the StratusLab software one in M3, one in M10-‐M12, and the last in M22-‐M24. The first release will be installed and tested on the EGI production sites operated by the project. The other releases will be more widely installed on the EGI infrastructure. The dissemination activities will en-‐ sure the availability is widely known. The networking ac-‐ tivities will collect feedback and the service activities will provide support. Grid User Communities Description: Feedback from end users is vital for the de-‐ velopment of the StratusLab distribution. They must see the same or better quality of service as for normal re-‐ sources. In the later release where a cloud-‐like API is available, StratusLab must verify that it is useful and per-‐ forms correctly for end users. Methodology: Initial investigations for stability and func-‐ tionality will be carried out with the bioinformatics com-‐ munity participating in the project. This “pilot” com-‐ munity has a demonstrated need for both grid and cloud resources and previous experience with virtualization. Once tested by the pilot community, then resources will be opened up to a wide range of different Virtual Organi-‐ zations. (The sites running the StratusLab production sites already support more than 20 different VOs.) The project will interact with the users to ensure that they see the same or better quality of service compared to conven-‐ tional resources and that the cloud-‐like APIs meet their needs. Grid Middle- ware Providers Description: The grid middleware stack is complex with many different interacting services. Often one cannot foresee problems when modifying software that interacts with those services. Direct interaction with the middle-‐ ware providers will allow us to make the middleware de-‐ velopers aware of the problems and allow us to discuss with them ways to avoid problems when virtualized re-‐ sources are used. Methodology: Making changes in services that work with the grid middleware can often have unintended c...
