Common use of Method of Reduction Clause in Contracts

Method of Reduction. 13 A. METRO shall determine the positions to be eliminated. Layoffs shall occur by 14 inverse classification seniority, except as otherwise specified in this AGREEMENT. 15 B. A laid-off Employee who has attained regular status in another job classification 16 may displace a less senior Employee in such classification, provided that the laid-off Employee has 17 obtained all necessary certifications to perform the duties of such classification. No Employee shall 18 be placed into a classification from which the Employee has demoted or failed to complete the 19 probationary period. A laid-off Employee who exercises the right to return to a previous position will 20 be reinstated to the position in classification seniority order which s/he had previously held, except as 21 provided in Article ▇▇, ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇, ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇.
