Mercury Content Clause Samples
The Mercury Content clause sets limits or requirements regarding the amount of mercury that may be present in products, materials, or processes covered by the agreement. Typically, it specifies maximum allowable mercury concentrations, mandates compliance with relevant environmental regulations, or requires documentation proving mercury content levels. This clause helps ensure that products are environmentally safe and compliant with legal standards, thereby reducing the risk of regulatory violations and environmental harm.

A slight amount of mercury, 751 parts per million (less than the RoHS limit of 1,000 ppm, is contained in the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) that backlight the liquid crystal displays (LCD) for the ExpressVote. The mercury-free alternative is an LED backlit display. The Contractor is evaluating LED backlit displays to replace CCFL-lit displays for both cost and environmental reasons. This evaluation, along with the necessary Engineering Change Order and subsequent federal and state certifications are expected to be available to the market in early 2017 with the release of ES&S Voting System (EVS) 6.2.0.0. Note: All of Contractor’s products are Restrictions of Use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliant. The ExpressVote, DS200 and DS450 meets RoHS standards – 500 ppm out of 1000 ppm.
