Meghalaya which means ‘abode of clouds’ is a hilly state located in the north-eastern part of India. It was created as an autonomous state within the state of Assam on 2nd April 1970 while the full-fledged State came into existence on 21st January 1972 with its own legislation. The state on the North and east is bound by Assam while on the south and west it shares its borders with Bangladesh.
