Marriage and Family Therapist a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist performing within the scope of such licensure. Where there is no licensure law, the Marriage and Family Therapist must be certified by the appropriate professional body.
Marriage and Family Therapist. To be eligible to be appointed to a marriage and family therapist position, a person must -
(A) hold a master's degree in marriage and family therapy, or a comparable degree in mental health, from a college or university approved by the Secretary; and
(B) be licensed or certified to independently practice marriage and family therapy in a State, except that the Secretary may waive the requirement of licensure or certification for an individual marriage and family therapist for a reasonable period
Marriage and Family Therapist. 679. MFT’s must complete the State-mandated required hours of post-degree experience. MFT candidates must receive at least one (1) hour per week of face-to-face supervision for every ten (10) hours of direct client counseling. Candidates for MFT license have six (6) years in which to acquire these supervised hours.
