Long Term Layoffs. Layoffs of a permanent nature which are expected to exceed 7 twenty-one (21) consecutive calendar days in a work unit or permanent reductions of 8 work force in a work unit will occur in the following manner: 9 10 A. When the need for long-term layoffs is foreseen by ARRMC, at least twenty-one (21) 11 calendar days prior to the effective date of such reduction or elimination, ARRMC will 12 deliver notice to the Association and the Association unit chairperson, in writing, 13 specifying the number and description of positions to be reduced and the reasons 14 therefore. 16 B. ARRMC and Association officials, and affected nurses, will meet to explore and 17 discuss alternatives to layoffs within seven (7) days of such notification. If 18 discussions do not produce full agreement on alternatives, then long-term layoffs will 20 1. Volunteers from the shift and work unit. 21 2. Agency and traveler nurses. 22 3.
