Local Exchange Carrier. (LEC) - any company certified by the Commission and engaged in the provision of telephone exchange service or exchange access. Such term does not include a CMRS provider except to the extent the FCC finds that such service should be included in the definition of such term.

Local Exchange Carrier. Federal, State, and Local taxes apply to all telecommunications service, for collect calls, nothing in this Agreement shall affect taxes that may be assessed and charged to the recipient by the local exchange carrier or billing agent. Taxes on collect calls are assessed by the local exchange carrier or billing agent that bills the call recipient for the collect call. Tax collections are rendered to the appropriate taxing entity and are never retained in whole or in part by GTL.
Local Exchange Carrier. The Company has been approved as a competitive local exchange carrier in the states of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and will use its best efforts to maintain such designations.
Local Exchange Carrier. The parties acknowledge and agree that much of the alphabetical listing data, and daily service order activity updating that data, is not generated by either party, but will be obtained from the incumbent local exchange carrier or, for purposes of the 2005 Directories, from the incumbent local exchange carrier’s directories affiliate. As between the parties, Publisher will be responsible for engaging in, maintaining and enforcing any agreements with the incumbent local exchange carrier and its affiliates as necessary to obtain the alphabetical listings information, daily service order activity, and all other rights, local exchange carrier obligations and data reasonably necessary to enable the parties to undertake the activities contemplated under this Agreement. The foregoing does not relieve Xxxxx of its obligations to provide Services hereunder and Xxxxx will still have the operational responsibilities set forth in this Agreement to work with the local exchange carrier and its affiliates to obtain and maintain (and validate to the extent provided for in the Schedules) data under Publisher’s agreements and to engage in the other Services required of Xxxxx hereunder.
Local Exchange Carrier. (LEC) means the incumbent carrier that provides facility-based Exchange Services, which has universal-service and carrier-of-last-resort obligations.
