Common use of Leave Privileges Clause in Contracts

Leave Privileges. A member who is pregnant or whose spouse is pregnant or adopts a child of preschool age shall be entitled to the use of up to forty-five (45) workdays of accumulated sick leave (additional days may be used as needed if the member or child is under a physician’s care, and document of such is provided) for maternity, paternity, or adoption. The days may not be used in two separate school years. Following the use of such paid leave, and upon request, the employee may be granted a leave of absence without pay for maternity, paternity, or adoption reasons (following the exhaustion of sick leave). At the discretion of the member, such leave shall be for (a) the balance of the school year (b) the balance of the school year and the next ensuing school year. Upon written request, the Board may grant an extension of such leave for one additional school year.
