LEAVE ABSENCE. Executive shall be entitled to unlimited paid time off, subject to the Company’s policy as from time to time amended in its discretion.
LEAVE ABSENCE. At its discretion, the City may grant a leave of absence without pay.
LEAVE ABSENCE. (a) Elected members of the Board of Directors of the Association shall, on at least two weeks written notice, be granted leave of absence from duties for their term of office. During the tenure of their leaves of absence, such members shall be paid by the Association and shall not be paid by the Board. The Association shall be responsible for all source deductions and remittance in respect of such members except as set out herein. The Board shall continue to provide welfare and group insurance benefits in respect to such members as though they had not been granted the leave of absence. The Association shall remit required pension contributions (member and employer) on a monthly basis to the Board which shall promptly remit same to the applicable pension plans, provided, however, that the Board shall be indemnified by the Association in respect of any loss or expense incurred by the Board as a result of the Association’s calculation of the required pension contributions or the Association’s failure to remit the correct amounts in a timely fashion to the Board. The Association will reimburse the Board the full cost of non-pension benefits provided by the Board during such leave of absence for such members. No more than eight members of the Force may be on leave of absence at any one time. The Association agrees to release the Board and the Chief of Police any and all liability with respect to any acts performed by, or omission of, a member in the performance of duties on behalf of the Association during such leave of absence. Upon completion of an elected Director’s term of office, the member, on at least weeks’ written notice, shall be returned to the first vacancy which is qualified to perform in the member’s former position or in a comparable position, but if no such vacancy is available, to such other vacancy in a position as determined by the Employer as being suitable. If the member is returned to a lower pay class than formerly held, the Board shall maintain the pay of former position, provided that, notwithstanding other provisions in this Agreement the Board may at any time transfer or promote such member to a vacancy in former or higher pay class. LEAVE ABSENCE. Each teacher shall be allowed one- half day leave without loss of salary i n case o f death or serious illness of an aunt or uncle of the teacher, and, such leave shall be included in but not exceed the maximum three days leave allowed in any one school year stated above. beyond this amount on compassionate grounds may be granted at the discretion of the Board. In a l l cases the teacher shall notify the Board prior to taking such leave. Regarding in- laws not covered in the above paragraph, each teacher shall be allowed leave not exceeding the total amount stated in the above paragraph. In such a case, however, substitute fees w i l l be deducted. Members of a Religious Order shall entitled one day of compassionate leave in case of the death of any member o f the same Order. LEAVE ABSENCE. Employees returning from long term paid or unpaid leave of absence shall notify the Hospital with a doctors certificate stating that they are able to return to work. Employees are expected communicate with their supervisor their impending return to work. Union Business No more than three employees will be granted leave for any one period of time, which no more than two shall be from the Unit nor more than one from any other department.- All leave shall not exceed a total of forty-five (45) working days for all employees in a calendar year; however, these limits may be extended by mutual consent between the parties. The Union undertakes to give the Hospital three weeks notice of such leave being taken with the exception of when extenuating circumstances prevail..
LEAVE ABSENCE. The Board agrees that where permission has been granted to represen- tatives of the Union to leave their employment temporarily in order to carry on negotiations with the Board or with respect to a griev- ance, they shall suffer no loss of pay for the time so spent. ARTICLE leave of absence (continUeD) Leave of absence without pay and without loss of sick leave credits or seniority shall be granted, upon request to the Board, to employ- ees elected or appointed to represent the Union at recognised Union conventions or conferences. In addition to the above, the Board will grant up to two employees per year (successful candidates for labour college and/or union education courses) two months’ leave of absence without pay, provided such leave does not interfere with the efficiency of the Board’s operations. Such leave shall be extended annually, upon request, up to a maximum of five years. Maternity Leave, without pay, shall be available as follows: Childbirth a maximum leave of six months in duration, which may be taken before and/or after the date of confinement. Adoption a maximum leave of six months in duration, which may be taken on and after the date of adoption placement. While on maternity or adoption leave an employee shall continue to accumulate seniority. When an employee intends to return to work after maternity or adop- tion leave, she shall the Board with at least two weeks’ notice. On return from maternity or adoption leave, the employee shall be placed at least in her position. If the former posi- tion no longer exists, she shall be placed in an equivalent position. LEAVE ABSENCE. A leave of absence without pay up to a of six (6) months in any one year may be granted to an employee for any reason acceptable to the company. Such request shall be considered based on the Company's operating policies and schedules, the employee's seniority and the merit of the application itself. An employee who fails to return to work on or before the date of expiry of the authorized leave of absence without pay, shall be considered to have resigned from the service of the Company, unless the employee has a bona fide reason. The seniority will continue to accrue by an employee during such leave of absence. Upon return a leave of absence without pay, an employee shall have the right to reinstate a position equivalent to the one he occupied at the time he If there has been a reduction of manpower during the absence of the employee, he shall exercise his bumping rights upon his return. The employee who works for another company during this period shall see his employment terminated and will lose his seniority unless he has obtained prior authorization from the Union article will not apply to an employee who has a second job prior to the start of leave of absence. During a leave of absence without pay, the employee must reimburse to the Company an equivalent to his portion of group insurance payment, which he normally pays with postdated cheques. LEAVE ABSENCE. The Company may or may not at discretion, grant a leave of absence without pay to any em- ployee requesting same. Seniority will continue to accrue during such authorized leave. During an approved leave of absence for occu- pational or non-occupational disability the Company will pay all premium costs of the Ontario Health Insurance Plan and Group Insurance for employees who are members of these plans, com- mencing with the first premium due after the 30th calendar day of such approved leave of absence. On request from the local lodge, the Company may grant leave of absence without pay to officials of the local lodge or their delegates for the transaction of Union business and attending trade union conventions. The number of granted leaves of absence, also the number of days granted, to be mutually agreed upon. On request from the local lodge, the Company will grant leave of absence without pay to an employee for a period not exceeding one year for full-time employment by the local lodge of the International Association of Machinists and Aero- space Workers providing that the number of em- ployees who at any one time shall be granted such leaves, shall be mutually agreed upon. Seniority shall continue to accrue during such leave of ab- sence and such employee will be rehired providing work for which he is qualified shall be available.
LEAVE ABSENCE. An employee may apply in writing to his xxxxxxx or in the absence of his xxxxxxx to the Supervisor for a leave of absence without pay and without loss of continuous service. Such leave of absence may be granted, in writing, at the discretion the Company. Any extensions to leave of absence must be applied for, in writing, reasonably in advance of the expiration date, unless fail- ure to do so is for a reason acceptable to the Company. Such extension may be granted, in writing, at the discretion of the Company. The Company may grant requests from the Union for leaves of absence for duly elected or appointed delegates to attend Union Conventions or Conferences and for Officers of the Union and duly elected Committee Members to conduct Union business. The Company shall grant employees pregnancy leave and parental leave in accordance with the provisions of the Employments Standards Act (Ontario).
