Language Differential. (a) For positions that the Employer has designated as having a bilingual or multilingual requirement, or where recruited as “bilingual required” or “multilingual required”, an overall salary differential of five percent (5%) per language required and assigned, up to a total of twenty percent (20%) will be paid to the qualified worker in those positions.
(b) The Employer may, before hire, promotion, transfer, or assigning the differential, test for fluency.
(c) Other workers with an acceptable level of bilingual skills but not in positions designated as requiring them may receive a five percent (5%) differential for assignments that the supervisor certifies as eligible for this alternate bilingual differential. The skill‐level and time‐spent‐using‐skills standard for certifying assignments as eligible for the alternate differential will be significantly lower than for designated positions. These hours do not need to be reported on worker timesheets by the worker, but the starting and stopping points of the differential must be authorized by the supervisor.
(d) An Employee receiving work out of class, lead differential, and a language differential will receive a combined, maximum pay differential of twenty percent (20%) for these three (3) differentials.
Language Differential. When formally assigned in the employee’s position description, an employee assigned to interpret to or from another language to English will receive a differential of five percent (5%) of base pay.
Language Differential. The Employer shall offer a language differential of $50 per pay period ($1,300 a year) to any employee who utilizes a language other than English in their daily work. Employees not receiving the language differential but assigned to temporary projects or campaigns in which they utilize a language other than English on a daily basis, shall be paid the language differential for pay periods for the duration of the assignment.
Language Differential. Employees fluent in a second language whose language skills are used in the action support of the Employer’s members/patients, shall be paid a differential of fifty (50) cents per hour.

Transition Projects recognizes the value provided by direct service staff who are proficient in a language in addition to English, including American Sign Language (ASL), which allows them to converse and/or translate sufficiently to discuss subjects of housing, engagement, and referral. Therefore, Transition Projects shall pay a differential of five percent (5%) over the base rate to which bargaining unit members are otherwise entitled for all hours worked. Bargaining unit members receiving the language differential are expected to perform interpretation and translation services as requested. A bargaining unit member who does not receive the language differential shall not be expected to perform interpretation or translation services.
Language Differential. An employee who demonstrates the ability to fluently converse in Spanish shall receive an additional 2.5% to base salary. The City shall schedule an examination in conversational Spanish as necessary, and upon certification of proficiency by the examiner, said employee shall receive the pay differential on the first day of the payroll period following the certification.
