You may not assign an interest in this Contract as collateral or security for a loan. However, you may assign periodic income payments under this Contract prior to the Payout Start Date. We are bound by an assignment only if it is signed by the assignor and filed with us. We are not responsible for the validity of an assignment. If the sole surviving Owner dies prior to the Payout Start Date, the Beneficiary becomes the new Owner. If the sole surviving Owner dies after the Payout Start Date, the Beneficiary becomes the new Owner as described in the Beneficiary provision and will receive any subsequent guaranteed income payments.
