Instructional Assistants. Media Center Assistants, and School-Year Secretaries shall receive pay equal to their regular scheduled hours for school closings caused by acts of God or other unplanned closures such as bomb threats, boiler malfunctions or loss of electricity, provided the District is paid for the day or part of the day by the State. In the event an employee is on paid leave, sick leave or bereavement leave during part or all of the school closure days as defined in this section, then the pay for the school closure time and that time on leave will not be charged against the employee’s paid leave time.
Instructional Assistants. 1. During the course of this agreement the instructional assistants work year shall be 182 days.
Instructional Assistants. 23.2.1 Whenever possible, unit members shall be given opportunity to participate in the interview process for instructional assistants.

Instructional Assistants. 24.01 If a kindergarten class size is twenty-five (25) or more students, then a two (2) hour instructional assistant will be assigned to that class daily. If a kindergarten class size is twenty-eight (28) or more students, then a five (5) hour instructional assistant will be assigned to that class daily. If an elementary classroom in Grade 1, Grade 2 or Grade 3 is twenty-five (25) or more students, a two (2) hour instruction assistant will be assigned to that class daily. If an elementary classroom in Grade 4 or Grade 5 exceeds thirty (30) students, then a two (2) hour instructional assistant will be assigned to that class daily. The second (2nd) Monday in September will be used as the official class size number. If the position is posted by the Board, the Board will continue to post the position until qualified candidates are hired. If a class size number includes a/n student(s) who is/are considered a SPED student(s) and has a designated paraprofessional(s) for the said student(s), the student(s) will not count in the class size numbers listed above.
Instructional Assistants. Instructional Assistants shall normally be classified as 10‐month employees. However, their work schedule may vary based on factors that include but are not limited to program design, track assignment of partner teacher, grade level, special student needs, etc. The work year will normally be 181 days. If the program extends into any Intersession or Summer School, the incumbent shall have the first opportunity for any additional hours. All other additional hours shall be offered by seniority. Instructional Assistants shall have the opportunity to request particular track assignments. Depending upon the needs of the district and the specific program adopted at the site, instructional assistants may be placed on different calendars as outlined in the calendars section above. Instructional assistants not satisfied with their calendar or track assignment may opt for the ‘one time transfer’ alternative specified above. Instructional Assistants. Instructional assistants shall be entitled to schedule vacations in the same manner as other employees as long as vacation scheduling does not interfere with the instructional program. The appropriate supervisor shall determine whether a requested vacation will interfere with the instructional program.
Instructional Assistants. 24.1. The contract for Instructional Assistants shall be a ten (10) month contract from September 1 to June 30.
Instructional Assistants. When the number of instructional assistant positions is reduced, employees forced from such positions shall be placed on an instructional assistant, unrequested leave list. Calculations shall be according to 7-4-3, except that names shall remain on the instructional assistant, unrequested leave list for a maximum of five (5) years.
