Common use of Hospice Clause in Contracts

Hospice. We will pay for hospice services including palliative and supportive care provided to a patient to meet the special needs arising out of physical, psychological, spiritual, social and economic stress, which are experienced during the final stages of illness and during dying and bereavement. Hospice organizations must be certified under Article 40 of the NYS Public Health Law. All services must be provided by qualified employees and volunteers of the hospice or by qualified staff through contractual arrangement to the extent permitted by federal and state requirements. All services must be provided according to a written plan of care, which reflects the changing needs of the patient/family. Family members are eligible for up to five visits for bereavement counseling.
