Honors & Independent Study. Faculty who participate in independent study projects, and who are carrying a 15- or 16-credit hour teaching load (6 summer hours) shall be compensated at a rate equal to one-half the tuition paid to the college by the student for the project. If the independent study is part of the honors program, faculty shall be paid $100.00 for each student enrolled in a one-hour independent study. In addition to the above compensation, faculty who participate in the honors program by planning and offering, for the first time, an honors unit tied to one of the designated Phi Theta Kappa honors theme, and who engage in other related honors activities, shall be paid $180 annually. Independent study compensation is limited to six (6) total student credit hours per semester without approval of the xxxx of the department.

It is understood that the assumption of any Class Taught with Low Enrollment, a Cooperative Education class/section, or an Honors Independent Study is purely voluntary on the part of the teacher. Should a teacher decline, the teacher retains the right to select a contractual or extra-contractual (EC) assignment in accordance with course selection provisions of the HFCC-FT collective bargaining agreement. It is also understood that the compensation for a Class Taught with Low Enrollment and a Cooperative Education class/section, when compensated on an extra contractual basis, shall not apply to the semester and annual contractual limitations on extra contractual hours and compensation.

  • Independent Study Independent study is a program of independent study, research, and/or experience directly related to the duties described in the employee’s job description or related classification as determined by the Retraining and Study Committee, which promises professional values equivalent to that derived from formal study at a recognized educational institution.

Documentation of this independent review shall be included when plans are submitted for review pursuant to subdivisions (a)(9) and (10) of this section.   • INDEPENDENT ACTION Except as otherwise described in the OP, any Party on its own initiative and without reimbursement may go upon lands protected by the other Party to suppress wildfires, if the fire is a threat to property within that Party's protection responsibility. In such instances, the Party taking action will promptly notify the Protecting Party. If either Party takes action on a fire independently, the Supporting Party will furnish the Protecting Party a preliminary report (oral) within 24 hours of the action taken and a written incident report with 10 days.
