Honorary Members. Criteria • Nominations for Honorary Membership shall be submitted by at least one Local, to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall make the final determination as to the granting of such membership. • Locals submitting nominees for Honorary Membership must include in their submission, a detailed account of their nominee’s activities and involvement in NSNU. This should include such things as length of time involved with NSNU, Boards, Executives or Committees the nominee was involved with, and any outstanding accomplishments the nominee performed. • Nominations shall be submitted to the Union Office at least ninety (90) days prior to the Annual General Meeting. • Honorary Membership may be conferred on an individual who is retired, or about to retire, is in receipt of permanent disability and is no longer employed as a member or staff for a period longer than six months. Honorary Membership may be conferred posthumously. • Honorary Membership may only be conferred to an individual who has rendered distinguished service or valuable assistance to the Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union. • An Honorary Member shall be granted the right to:

Honorary Members. Honorary Members are designated by a majority vote of The Executive Committee. Although eligible to participate in all Chapter activities, an Honorary Member shall not hold elective office nor have a vote either in The Executive Committee or in a general election of the Chapter unless or until such time as qualified, applied for, and accepted for regular membership as stated above. Honorary Members may be appointed to special functions by The President in the best interests of the Chapter unless The Executive Committee subsequently decides by majority vote to nullify The President’s appointment.

Honorary Members. In exceptional cases, persons who have played an outstanding role in the science of refrigeration and in the industries connected with refrigeration and benefactors of the Institute may, upon the decision of the Executive Committee, receive the title ofHonorary Member” of the Institute.
