Common use of Hiring Rates Clause in Contracts

Hiring Rates. A new employee shall normally be hired at the minimum of the salary range for the position, provided however, that the Village may approve a higher rate within the range where the selected applicant possesses education and/or experience which exceed the minimum requirements for the position. In such event, the Village will advise the Union and the employees in the same class of the action and the reasons therefore, in writing, and any employee with equivalent qualifications in the same class who is being paid lower in the range may request a review of his/her qualifications and salary. If the case is substantiated the appropriate salary adjustment shall be effected.
