HIPAA and PHI Information Sample Clauses
The HIPAA and PHI Information clause establishes the obligations of parties to protect and handle Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). It typically requires that any party accessing, storing, or transmitting PHI implements appropriate safeguards, such as encryption and access controls, and may mandate notification procedures in the event of a data breach. This clause is essential for ensuring that sensitive health information is managed lawfully and securely, thereby reducing the risk of unauthorized disclosure and legal liability.
