General Teaching Conditions. 1. A reasonable effort will be made to secure a substitute for each teacher who is absent, including teachers of physical education, music, art, and library. 2. The use of bargaining unit members for the purpose of substituting for absent bargaining unit members shall be discouraged. 3. Bargaining unit members shall not be required to work under unsafe or hazardous conditions nor to perform tasks which endanger their health, safety or well-being. The building principal will decide in consultation with the Association Representatives when these conditions exist. 4. Staff meetings shall be scheduled once each month. Notification of the days of said meetings shall be given at least one (1) week in advance.

The District agrees to investigate and implement relief from non-teaching duties such as but not limited to: collecting money for lunch, milk, books, fees and other solicitations; initiating pupil record forms; chaperoning parties; non-class related trips and other special functions. b. Teachers shall not be required to perform custodial work. c. When a teacher shall have a pupil constituting a serious behavior problem, such shall be brought to the attention of the building principal. If a solution cannot be found, a joint committee of administration and the Association will review the matter and make recommendations to the Superintendent. d. The District agrees to keep the school building furniture clean and safely maintained at all times for the protection of the children and the teachers. e. Any request for the purchase of educational supplies shall be made to the building principal. Within nine (9) days thereafter, the teacher shall receive written notification from the principal of the acceptance, rejection or status of such request. f. The District recognizes that appropriate texts, supplemental materials, library reference facilities, maps and globes, laboratory equipment, audio-visual equipment, art supplies, physical education equipment, current periodicals, standard tests and questionnaires and similar material are the tools of the teaching profession. g. The District agrees to maintain educational equipment in reasonable operating condition. h. Building or full staff meetings, not including departmental or grade-type meetings, shall not exceed a total of twenty (20) hours per year outside the regular school day. A reasonable attempt will be made to limit the duration of such meetings to one (1) hour outside the regular school day. The preparation of the agenda shall be the responsibility of the administration and shall be posted twenty-four (24) hours before the called meeting. Mandatory Safe Schools Training shall count as one (1)
General Teaching Conditions. Each middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12) administration and faculty will develop and implement a policy concerning absenteeism from classes due to extracurricular activities so that sufficient time will be given to students to make up missed work.
General Teaching Conditions. 1. The provisions of this contract are not intended to limit a teacher’s rights to voluntarily accept any school activity offered to him/her. If a teacher does not wish to volunteer for any assignment which is beyond the terms of this contract, he/she is free to do so. Employees will be paid the extra duty time rate for Safe Schools Training if it is more than three (3) hours. 9. The District will strive to provide a separate workstation and storage space for personal and instructional materials for each teacher.
