In accordance with past practice, when such work is to be performed, skilled trades employees will be given first priority to do such work provided they are capable of performing such work, within the necessary timeline to complete the work, as agreed by the Union and the Company. New Technology The Company will extend training to cover technological changes that have taken place within the industry and plant specific for the skilled trades, and related discussions will take place with the Skilled Trades Representative prior to the delivery of the training. Tool Allowance The Company agrees to furnish all skilled trades people with appropriate hand tools. In addition, the Company agrees to pay the cost of license renewals for skilled trades. Work Assignments The President may request the Human Resources Department to arrange a special meeting to hear the Skilled Trades Representative views and concerning problems with work assignments of employees in the skilled trades classification. The President, Skilled Trades Representative, Maintenance Manager and a representative of Human Resources within five (5) working days, will attend the meeting. It is understood that this will not be abused. Diageo Canada Amherstburg Site Apprenticeship Plan The Company agrees that the following is the procedure for the APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM in conjunction with the Ontario Department of Labour to provide the Company with a source of qualified tradespeople. The need for the number of apprentices will be reassessed by Management periodically as vacancies occur among the mechanics in the Maintenance Department.
